Met Éireann has confirmed its rainfall radar at Shannon Airport will be offine until at least the third week of November.
Technical problems have led to the loss of rainfall radar coverage in the west and south-west of Ireland.
Met Éireann says it is working with the radar manufacturer to find the earliest resolution to the problems to ensure that the issues are resolved and the radar service is restored to safe and reliable operation. However, the radar will be offline until at least the third week in November.
Met Éireann has already commenced planning for a major programme to expand and modernise the Irish weather radar network.
