Turkey has been suffering from a cold front that has affected much of the country for the last couple of weeks, with numerous village roads blocked, mountainous regions hit by avalanches and cars stranded on roads during the past two days in particular.

More than 850 village roads were blocked on Monday due to heavy snowfall in the eastern provinces of Erzurum, Ağrı and Ardahan. Municipal teams continue to work night and day to clear the roads there.

According to information from Turkish meteorology officials, the lowest temperature recorded was in Erzurum, where the temperature dropped to as low as minus 17 degrees Celsius.
