
Wind gusts of between 95 to 110 km/h (51 to 59 kts) in southwestern, western and northern coastal areas of the country are being forecast for this evening and overnight.
Met Eireann tonight said that south to southeast winds will reach mean speeds of 45 to 55 km/h (24 to 30 kts) with gusts of 75 to 95 km/h (40 to 51 kts) generally but gusts of in excess of 110kph are likely in in southwestern, western and northern coastal areas.

A 107kph gust was recorded at Valentia, County Kerry, in the past hour. Winds are expected to abate considerably before midday tomorrow.
Meanwhile, heavy rain will become widespread later tonight with a risk of localised flooding. A clearance in western parts will follow later tonight and extend to the rest of the country before morning.
